Project overview

This project focused on a critical SEO recovery for the website eurosalve.com. The primary goal was to diagnose and resolve a severe and sudden drop in organic traffic. The recovery effort involved a deep technical audit, removal of critical on-site errors, and strategic on-page optimization. This project falls under the categories of Technical SEO and SEO Recovery.

Project Goals & Objectives
  • Primary Goal: Recover lost organic traffic and restore the website’s search engine visibility.

  • Objective 1: Immediately identify the root cause of the sharp traffic decline.

  • Objective 2: Remove all technical barriers that were preventing search engines from crawling and indexing the site.

  • Objective 3: Implement proper on-page optimization for key category and main pages to improve search engine rankings.

Key Challenge (Before Work)

The website experienced an abrupt and catastrophic traffic drop, with organic sessions plummeting from approximately 10,000 to 1,000. A detailed audit revealed that this sudden decline was caused by an accidental implementation of noindex tags across the website by the developers. This tag instructed search engines to remove the site from their index, leading directly to the dramatic loss of visibility and traffic.

Methodology & Work Done

A swift and targeted approach was taken to reverse the damage and restore the site’s performance:

  • Phase 1: Deep Technical Audit: A comprehensive audit was conducted to pinpoint the source of the traffic loss. This process led to the discovery of the site-wide noindex tags.

  • Phase 2: Tag Removal & Re-Indexing: All instances of the noindex tag were immediately removed from the website’s code to allow search engines to re-crawl and re-index the pages.

  • Phase 3: Keyword Research & On-Page Optimization: After resolving the technical issue, strategic keyword research was performed for all main pages and critical category pages. The meta tags (titles and descriptions) of these pages were then optimized with relevant keywords to improve their ranking potential.

Key Results & Impact

Following the technical recovery and on-page optimizations, the website’s traffic and search engine rankings were restored. The removal of the noindex tag allowed search engines to re-list the site, leading to a steady recovery of organic traffic. The subsequent on-page optimization efforts further solidified its search presence and positioned it for future growth.
